Alexander Boris de Fuckeditrightup as London Mayor comitted £37m of public money to a garden bridge that we don't have, nor ever will have.

So I take you incompetent Tory loser and raise you a fat incompetent bungling Tory loser. Who ever said the Nasty Party was good with public money?

I don’t see a problem with that, Chris Grayling wasted £34m on a takeaway website that had no ships and he hasn’t been castrated by people queuing at food banks

I was chatting to the Autoglass guy the first replacement and he reckons it's these 'performance' cars using lightweight glass that can't stand up to the punishment on normal roads, which I can believe.

On the other hand, a former colleague needed a new screen on his SLK and apparently the screen is structural on those, and none of the aftermarket screen suppliers will guarantee that theirs are strong enough to be safe in a rollover...but they still sell and fit them

I've had two professional repairs on my screen in the last 12 months and a third major chip but not needing repair... 3 in 18 months!  :angry

Drill a hole to stop the crack spreading and fill it with bathroom sealant!

That only works if you put a screw in it as well, ask Waspy.

My first MOT isn't due until next year, so I'm going to keep an eye on it and if it doesn't spread too bad will leave it as long as possible, as it'll probably pick up a few more chips anyway at this rate.

When it comes to replacing I expect it'll look like it's been shot at escaping a war zone.

I went for years without needing a new windscreen (120k miles or something on the original screen). Then my little mazda I finally cracked it when being a bit overzelous trying to remove the tax disc goo and caused a crack from a stone chip. Then 3 months later a stone flicked up and cracked my new screen 3 months later.
The BMW got a massive smash from what felt like a boulder hitting the screen - that was nasty. I reckon it's on it's 4th screen in 212k miles - it currently has a crack on it, but it's not in my line of sight, and so I'm gonna get a new screen just before MOT time.

But yes, it does feel like you get more these days... More crap on the road, and more traffic - so more stuff being thrown up, couple with wider vehicles so always dragging up debris from the sides compared to days gone by  :dontknow:

It can also get quite pricey these days with all the sensor arrays hidden/attached on the screen and will need re calibrating afterwards.

And yes, I can beleive manufacturers speccing thinner glass to reduce mass up high - although I'd expect big posh cars will need thicker glass for sound deadening...

In the cage today - driving along the M11 and heard that crack on the windscreen as a stone is fired up off the car in front.

Thought I'd got away with it until I get to work and outside spot the crack is on the edge of the screen out of sight, but a crack has formed from it and spreading out, starting to move it's way into the main area  :BangHead:

Not sure if it's this car's particular windscreen or shape or something, but I've never had to have a windscreen replaced in all my years driving, yet in 2 years with this car I've had 4 repairs and this will be the second replacement.

I was chatting to the Autoglass guy the first replacement and he reckons it's these 'performance' cars using lightweight glass that can't stand up to the punishment on normal roads, which I can believe.

I guess at least it wasn't one of the bikes headlights.
