yeah, the other thing is everyone gets offended, so you can't do pub talk on forums either.  The V7 forum is Faeces Book and all about each person's latest accessory. Ask a serious Q and there's a deathly hush.

Except tyres. Tyres. Everyone is an expert. and only the tyres they use are the best tyres even though they've never tried other tyres, or tires and BTW what tyres do you use?because whatever it is its the wrong ones.
Aahhh !

That explains why the BMW forums are so busy !
People always need to know what tyres & oils to use, and which side you should fill your GS from  :thumb

Oh yeah and oil. What oil should you use, how much and where do you stick it.
I already mentioned the oil

Hi Mick, hope you're keeping well.  Ha yeah, although the East Midlands section seems to have errrr, fallen out with one another over who organises the brekky meets and the standard of the cafe used.  :baby   lol.  Also, they don't offer free sportin' membership after you join like we do,  ;)

Carpe is allus gonna be a not for profit niche site, in part due to the limited number of TDM's out there.

There is another side to the demise of specific forums too.
Most of the members only join up to ask about problems or fixes or specific upgrades. Once they are done they never come back. With bikes being more reliable and longevity improved, upgrades being offered in the form of aftermarket bolt ons you just don't get the amount of people joining in the first place.
Plus people are less mechanically inclined and just take it to a dealer to get things done.
Someone on the Fazer forum took theirs to get a tail tidy and a gear indicator fitted, money isn't an issue these days really.
I asked about getting my quick shifter fitted the other day but they said they could only for the ones they buy and the cost with fitting was around 800 sovs. Noped out of there pretty quick.
All my all it leads to a slow decline in forum member uptake.
The only people left are us old folk who are so socially awkward that we can't talk to people is the real world.

A lot of forums are suffering unfortunately, especially model specific ones as the bikes get older and less common.

The ZRX forum is a ghost town now and weirdly even the MT09 forum hardly gets any new posts even though it's a new(ish) model.  Everyone must be on the Facebook group I guess  :dunno

Hello stranger. Jumped the gun a bit there eh?
How's things over on Carpe then, it's been a while since I visited.

Hi Steve, all good on Carpe, still managing a steady flow of new members, subs and postings.  Quieter than it used to be but I think that's just the way it is with a lot of websites due to the likes of facefook and twatter.        We might be upgrading to the latest version of our site software soon, it'll look different so will prolly get the ensuing commenting/abusing/leaving etc.  Would prefer to leave as is but the tech bodz insist on never-ending upgrades and end of support for software older than a couple of years. hey ho.
